Yes, I was one of those who thought Slavery in America ended with the Civil War. This book unearths evidence how the slavery lived on for much longer and how the southern states made it a policy of the government.

The other day when I was rewatching "Gone with the Wind"; and even Scarllet O Hara hired black convicts to work on her MIll even when Ashley tries to convince her. It is weird it never registered before....
